Numbers Church Planters Must Be Watching

There are many things that church planters need to pay attention to while starting a church. Often the focus is on the number of people that show up on Sunday, the number of bills in the offering plate, and the number of cars in the parking lot. While those numbers do measure certain aspects of a church's impact, there are many other things to consider counting:
  • spiritual conversations initiated each week
  • meals shared with unbelievers
  • new small groups launched
  • baptisms
  • missionaries sent into their neighborhood
  • number of unbelievers in your community
Consider what you are measuring as you plant a new church. I've struggled over the years to count the right things. It's important to identify what is meaningful to you before you start counting this week.
