This Christmas we are especially looking forward to having both our kids home! We love how they are pursuing their careers, yet we love it when we can be together!

As we reflect on our engagement in Jesus’ mission and particularly the significance of this season, we are reminded how Christmas celebrates God’s love for us. “This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).

Our son’s pastor at Central Presbyterian Church in New York City is Dr. Doug Webster. He writes in his book A Christmas Journey,

In love, God made the first move toward us and has continued the movement ever since. The emotion we experience toward God is based on his grace filled movement toward us . He left his home to bring us home.

Aren’t you glad that God has expressed his love like that? And ultimately, one day we will all be home for Christmas with him!

Merry Christmas,
Dave and Deanne
