I’m wondering about the effectiveness of Back to Church Sunday this coming weekend.

Where do you spend most of your time?

How do you define success in Christian ministry?

It’s my privilege to serve the Missionary Church Western District as the Director of Church Multiplication. I have been in this role for over ten years. It’s been a true blessing for me to come alongside church planters and their teams to encourage their ongoing development!

I’ve been training and coaching church planters for many years! I really love helping church planters to start new churches. But today I’ve decided to change my message to church planters.

The vigorous planting of new congregations

while the church on Sunday is extremely important, what happens on Sunday is not the primary work of the church. The assembly of the church is meant to equip and encourage and enhance the real work of the church, which doesn’t take place within the four walls of a sanctuary. It takes place on the highways and byways and in all the workplaces and meeting places in the world.” – Jerry Cook,

Instead of attracting people to church, local churches have a responsibility to equip every believer as missionaries in their neighborhoods and workplaces! The problem in many churches is that “consumer Christians” are coming on Sundays to receive the goods and services that the staff offers them.

I love being part of the Missionary Church! I was initially attracted to their commitment to church planting and world missions.

The place or building where your church meets is a great tool for accomplishing your mission, but the building itself is not the church. What happens when you meet there is also very critical to accomplishing the mission, but that’s not church either.
