Greg VanderMeer: Fair Haven Church
Followers of Jesus need to know the answer to this question.
Followers of Jesus need to live out the mission of the church.

Following Jesus is the greatest joy in life. Discipleship is all about following Jesus. Disciplemaking is all about helping others to follow Jesus — and helping others to help others to follow Jesus. Discipleship and Disciplemaking go hand in hand.

When the church is in mission, it is the true church. The church itself is not only a product of that mission but is obligated and destined to extend it by whatever means possible. The mission of God flows directly through every believer and every community of faith that adheres to Jesus. To obstruct this is to block God’s purposes in and through his people.

The essence of any local church is seen as being the people of God on mission. God has sent His people to complete His mission by making disciples who make disciples!

How can church planters help those who want to join in planting a church to get on the same page?

House United is a church plant in north San Diego County with a passion to give young people the opportunity to respond to the great love of Jesus Christ…joining His life changing mission of love. They also have a passion to minister to families, especially those who aren’t being reached through traditional church models.

Every time I teach or train on Missional Living or Church Planting, I draw three circles on a large poster paper. This is the simplest way for me to explain what aligning with the mission of Jesus looks like.

Instead of attracting people to church, local churches have a responsibility to equip every believer as missionaries in their neighborhoods and workplaces! The problem in many churches is that “consumer Christians” are coming on Sundays to receive the goods and services that the staff offers them.

I love training and coaching churches planters to start new churches by making disciples!
